Love - Hate Relationship

This is my first love/hate relationship. After my last post on St. Petersburg White Nights, Deb was kind enough to email me some tips on stitching a Chatelaine. One of the things she said was "you can either work it or it can work you", well I can tell you - this Chatelaine is definitely working me. I am finished with part 3, even the beading, and am breathing a huge sigh of relief. Now I did make a pretty big error on part 3 but I have to wait for part 4 to come out to decide if I have to frog or if I can compensate around the error. At this point in doing this piece I am pretty sure I will never do another Chatelaine. I give credit to all you stitchers out there who do them and do more than one at a time, you're incredible.

I do not work well with deadlines. I have decided I would be horrible as part of any SAL, again kuddo's to all of you who do SAL's. And again thanks to every one who's visited my blog and left comments.

well done on persevering with this one, it's sad when you are stitching and not enjoying it, have done this myself a time or two!! It is looking lovely though.

I have to give you credit for even trying...I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I could NOT do a Chateline..they are beautiful...just not for me...I don't have the tenacity.
Yours is looking good and I think you need to give yourself some credit for that!

Your doing a great job! I signed up for the 2008 Chateline and I'm hoping I can keep up with it.

Thanks for your comment. I am using Victoria Clayton threads -- it is called the Nightfall assortment. I have a document identifying which threads I used for each motif. If you want it let me know and I will post it.

I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling with this piece--it is looking beautiful!! Just think how proud you will be to have finished this gorgeous piece.

One thing that will ease your stress is to do what I do ... KNOW that you're going to fall behind. I guess I got that attitude from starting my first Chatelaine well after the group started, so I was already behind. It's not a race - there's no reason to try to finish each part before the next comes out. Just work on it at the pace you feel comfortable with and don't let it take up your whole stitching life. It'll get done.

THis piece looks beautiful. I must admit though that I don't think I will ever do another Chatelaine mystery after the Christmas one is done as I'm not enjoying it.

I realized that I made a change to two of the motifs and I had not changed my document. I posted the corrected version. I wanted to let you know in case you saved it to use later.

LOL! Yes, I've had many of those relationships. Some I've gotten over but then some I still loath to this day. It really is coming along fabulously so don't give up yet!

Beautiful work. I've never stitched a Chatelaine, but they are gorgeous.

It's so true - those Chatelaine pieces can really consume you! But if you take it at your own pace, you will do great - it is so stunning on that fabric!!

It is looking great, sorry that some of it is being so frustrating. Hopefully when the next part comes out the area that you are concerned with will fit in without a problem and you won't need to frog any of it.

It's going to be so worth it when you are done though. The fabric is just perfect for it and I think your progress is beautiful!

Oh, it is just beautiful! Don't worry about keeping up - you stitch because you enjoy stitching, right? If you're not enjoying it... take a break from it and stitch something else!

Your St. Petey is looking fabulous! Don't try to keep up each month...just keep copying your parts of the chart and work it as your feel like it. Chatelaines go better and the spirit of the stitch flows better that way! :))
Love and hugs,
Deb
