St Pete's Update

Well, I'm having trouble with my camera, so this out of focus pic is the best I can do. I'm working on my 3rd corner, I'm out of the yellow I need, but will be getting it tomorrow. I've been trying to figure out why I dislike stitching on this piece so much. It's the most stunning piece I've ever stitched so one would think I would be having the time of my life working on it, but alas, that is not so. I have determined a few things: 1. I do not like stitching a piece when I do not have all of the chart, hence the many mistakes that get made. 2. I do not like the repetition of doing the same stitching 4 times. If I had the complete chart I would stitch it differently than the way the parts are given to you on-line. 3. I will quietly say Martina makes many mistakes and often leaves IMPORTANT things out of her directions.
Realizing these things I may even do another Chatelaine someday. But it will be when the whole chart can be bought and I can stitch it in the order I want to.

Thanks for all the nice comments, especially on Miss New Year's ;)

I love her designs so much, but I can see why you’d have a hard time stitching it, especially doing 4 of the same thing every time. I have yet to attempt one, but am not ready for it yet. Maybe someday. I would have to have the whole pattern in front of me for sure too. You are doing so good on it though, I am proud of you for keeping with it.

Sorry you are having a hard time working on this design. It's beautiful but I totally understang you when you say is a little bit repetitive having to stitch the same thing 4 times...I couldn't do it, that's why I admire you :)

Looks great, even though you don't like it. I think being on dark fabric and doing the same thing over and over would be the two reasons that I woould have working on it. Keep trudging onward.

Great progress! I can certainly understand how you could dislike stitching the same thing four times :oS That's why you're stitching it and I'm not! LOL!

Sometimes the most difficult pieces are the most beautiful :) Yes repeating almost everything 4 times is definitely a pain.

However it's really looking great!

Great progress! This is such a beautiful piece!
(And I quietly agree with your point 3.)

I agree with you - it's nice to have the whole thing (and not the prototype) so that you can plan your stitching in a way that suits you - I would imagine that everyone would tackle it in a different way. It does look stunning though so it's definitely worth it!

It looks great but it does sound a nightmare to me ;)

Well that was being very nice to say it quietly and in small letters :) LOL!
I think it's stunning, but I know imperically, emphatically, positively...that I could NEVER do one! They are stunning though and one never tires looking at them! You're doing a great job!

It is looking gorgeous. I must admit I am the same as you though and if I ever did another it would be the whole pattern.

I've got a half-finished Chatelaine hanging around somewhere here, mostly for the same reasons you've listed :) It's beautiful... but.....

Learning from you, I have a feeling I won't start this one until all the parts have been released. I'm sorry you're having a difficult time with it, but your progress is stunning. Take good notes of the mistakes so I can use them later please!

I have several patterns that I've started, but haven't finished at home for similar reasons. Its a great thing that you've stuck with it, give yourself a pat on the back. I hope you don't have too much further to go.

The results are wonderful so far...I love it. Keep up the good work....
Even if you don't care for it!

That's why I don't really mind getting behind in the classes--I can pick where I want to stitch.

It looks amazing! But I can understand your frustration, especially when you are stitching in a way that is different from your normal style.

I totally agree. I have had a difficult time understanding the pattern on this one too. It's crazy. You are really humming along on it though. And it looks amazing! And New Years Fairy is gorgeous. :) Ann.

St Pete's is looking gorgeous, but I think I would rather have the whole pattern as well. That way I can see how pieces fit together and work on whatever part is calling to me rather than having to work on them in the order given. Her pieces are beautiful finished, there is a previous class piece Alpine Garden that I'd like to get when she releases it.
