My New Start

Here is my first new start for 2008. It's titled "A Sweeter Love" and is by Plum Street Samplers, which is one of my favorite designers. The full picture is in my sidebar. I'm stitching it on 32ct Lakeside Linen "Maple Sugar" (scrummy) and I'm using NPI silks. This will be an anniversary gift for my husband, teehee, I get to stitch this, get the anniversary gift out of the way AND the gift stays in my home. Boy, it doesn't get much better than that :)
There are two alphabets in this pattern and both of them are missing the letter "J". Odd, but I think it makes the piece more interesting.
Someone asked if I was keeping VoHRH or giving it away as a gift. Oh no, that baby is staying with me.
I'm working on my stitching rotation, I have a couple of "secret stitches" going on, which I'll be glad when they are finished. Getting back into a rotation means I have to get back to St. Petersburg White Nights. I found the piece somewhat overwhelming before, I hope I'm up for it.

A wonderful new start. I stitched a huswif in a mystery SAL last year and that had letters missing too (apparently thats how they used to be!)

I bet you can get back to White Nights. It's just going to take some time :o)

Btw, I LOVE the saying at the end of your post. I can't tell you how much that touched me today.

Love your new project! Paulette is my new favorite designer, I have so many of her things to stitch...there's just something about them...well, they're all beautiful is what!
This is going to make a wonderful anniversary gift for your DH.
I loved your description of the fabric you're using, scrummy, lol!
There's surely someone out there that can explain why, but I know that a lot of old samplers did not include the letter J for some reason. Just can't remember the reason!

Love that piece. Have seen someone else stitching it too. It is on my wish list.

The reason the "J" is left out relates back to when samplers were teaching tools. They were used to teach the children their letters. In forming J it is similar to T. Sometimes the the "U" is left out because it is similar to the V. These are the stories I have been told in various sampler classes.

I love your new start and I love the way you have it figured out as a gift for the both of you. LOL I also love your VOHRH! I'm slowly but surely plugging away at HOHRH but don't know if I'll ever finish it. I always find something else I want to stitch.

Hugs and stitches,
Carolyn :)

I get behind in my reading and you start up a posting frenzy. I'm so glad to see you back, and what a lot of wonderful pictures you've had. Miss New Years Eve looks fantastic. I have Christmas Fairy and Halloween Fairy in my stash, but not this one yet. She turned out so pretty I think I may not be able to resist any longer. :)

Your Ark looks wonderful framed, and Houses turned out awesome as well. Houses is so big and involved I'm amazed whenever I see it done. Sweeter Love looks like it will be beautiful too, nice start. You certainly are on a roll, and I'll bet you're plenty up to the challenge of Nights.

Again, I'm so glad to see you and to hear that a bit of ease is beginning to work its way back into your life. Hang in there {{hugs}}

That is a very pretty new start. I saw it on another blog but no photo to see what it looked like. It is going to be very nice. Im looking forward to seeing your progress on White Nights. I love Chatelaines but only drool over them. It will be fun watching you work at it.

For some reason I have you on my favorites list on my desktop, but not my laptop, which is what I have been using for a while. First of all let me say your VoHRH is astronomical! I can't think of a better word for it! By all means keep it for yourself!!!! Best stitching wishes for your anniversary sampler. Enjoy visiting your blog, it is super!
