Well, I spent the afternoon with a friend dying linen. This is the first time either one of us has ever done this. I read lots of blogs and other websites about dying linen to be prepared. We dyed with RIT dye but found out that bleach was our best friend. LOL!! We had some real disasters going and bleach saved us.
We are both fanatics about stitching on hand-dyed linens, this sure is cheaper. My favorites are the two in the top picture, especially the one on the left.
All of these are 36 ct edinborough except the peachy one in the bottom picture, that one was a cheap piece of 28ct monaco.
The two best RIT colors were tan and cocoa brown.
Thanks to everyone who sent kind comments about my family situation. They are very appreciated.

Tan and Cocoa Brown...my favorites too! I think you did a fabulous job!
You gals did a fabulous job.
I have a secret. I was boiling some fresh beets from my garden the other day.
I saw this beautiful color in my water and thought hey!! I wonder...
Yep, I tried it. What a way to go green huh?
I have to remember to post a pic, it turned out pink and with a day it was turning brown a little. It's a wonderful color for Valentines.
Well done on the fabric dyeing!! they look great!
How lovely to try this, they are all lovely
That looks really great, especially for a first try.
Beautiful fabrics. Please could you let me have your email address as I'd like to email you personally. hazelhenry@hotmail.com
wow! Great job! Love the ones in the first pic !
Your dyed fabrics look fantastic. Sounds like you and your friend had a great time dyeing them! I love the neutrals. I'm thinking of doing it using tumeric (a spice, sometimes used in place of expensive saffron in cooking) to get an antique-y faded yellow color. :-)
Nice job, I really like the colors in the first photo as well.
Your linen looks like it turned out great. What a fun way to spend a day, and how productive. Dyed linen is so expensive, learning to make your own is a great idea.

Great job! You've got to start somewhere :o) I'd love to try myself but I have to admit, I'm too lazy. LOL!
Oooh I love how your fabric has turned out!
The fabric looks beautiful-I have been thinking of trying that too.
Bravoooooo!!

Your fabric dyeing turned out really well, the colours are fabulous.
love the dyed linen...I'll really have to try that! (found your blog through a blog award you won on another blog...very nice!)
The linen looks great, and I bet you had fun! I read your last post. I will keep you and your family in my prayers and hope that everything will be better soon. I pray that God will give you peace.
Those look wonderful!
